TOWNSFOLK are set to have a sparkling time at this year's town bonfire celebrations.
Bonfire night promises to be as popular as ever with many events happening throughout Bromsgrove.
Most notable of the planned events is the free Civic Bonfire in Sanders Park this Sunday.
The fun starts at 4pm when Wilson's Funfair will open with a selection of rides and stalls, which is soon followed at 4.30pm with a stage show for all the family.
Chairman of Bromsgrove Council, Cllr Ted Tibby, (Con-Norton) will light the bonfire at around 7pm, before a 20-minute firework extravaganza at 7.30pm to a sporting theme.
Collections will take place on the night, with all money raised going to the chairman's charities.
Guys for the bonfire will be provided by the arts and craft group at the Dolphin Centre and by pupils from Millfields First School.
Every class in the school, from reception to year four, has taken part in a competition to design and make a guy.
Headteacher Sarah Power, said: "We are very pleased to be contributing towards the town's annual bonfire event."
Other events include a Barnt Green village bonfire, held by Barnt Green Charity Club and Barnt Green Scouts, at the Scouts' Field.
The event starts at 6pm at the Blackwell Road site on Saturday.
Organisers were determined the event would go ahead - despite the scout premises being destroyed by fire earlier this year. All profits will go towards Barnt Green Scouts Rebuilding Fund.
The Park Gate Inn, on Kidderminster Road, is set to hold a Friday night bonfire at the pub.
All profits made on the door will go towards the pub's TQ Campaign, which has so far raised £4,500 for cancer research.
A raffle, pig roast and bouncy castle will also add to the entertainment.
Cofton Park residents can enjoy the bonfire at Cofton Park on Saturday.
The rolling parkland is the venue for this year's event, costing £4 for adults and £3 concessions.
Doors open at 5.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 7pm and fireworks at 8pm.
