A DROITWICH Spa charity needs new volunteers to help make it's future even brighter.

Droitwich MIND, the country's leading mental health charity, is looking for people to bring fresh ideas and skills to its two bases at the Covercroft Centre and Amphlett House.

Worcestershire County Council's social services department recently handed over the contract for Droitwich MIND to a different provider, as part of its best value scheme.

And although the service will fundamentally remain the same, the charity needs both new volunteers and trustees to ensure its success.

"We see this as an great opportunity to move forward," said Ken Stiff, chairman of MIND.

He says people with any skill or ideas will be welcomed. This could include creative or practical skills, fundraising, marketing and finance.

"And they can get as involved as little or as much as they want," he added.

At the moment, a host of courses are available at Covercroft day centre in Colman Road for people with severe mental health problems. These include cookery, arts and crafts, gardening and basic skills and are run through Worcester College of Technology.

Amphlett Hall in Worcester Road is also used by MIND twice a week and is open to anyone who wishes to drop in. Similar activities are available.

Residents are also invited to become a member of Droitwich MIND for £5 per year.

Trustee member and service user Rob Evans said: "We are also interested in finding out what people in the area want as far as this service goes. Nothing is off the agenda though."
