COMMITTED volunteers are urgently needed to make the next Droitwich music festival even more successful than last year.
Droitwich Association of Retail, Tourism and Services (DARTS) is looking for people to lend a helping hand in organising the town's second festival.
This year's summer festival lasted a week and brought a diverse range of musical genres to the town including jazz, pop and classical.
It culminated in a gala evening at the Droitwich Rugby Club and was enjoyed by hundreds of people.
DARTS chairman Richard Brighton thinks this summer's festival will net a £3,300 profit once all the companies which sponsored it have coughed up. This will go back into the kitty for next year.
He hopes the 2005 festival will be even bigger and better and, speaking at a recent DARTS meeting, he said acts and venues would all need to be in place by the end of this year.
"We want to build on last year's success but we need people to help us."
Jill Campbell, Droitwich Spa town centre officer and member of DARTS, suggested inviting a charity to help organise the event.
They discussed setting up a special committee to arrange the extravaganza and plan to approach pubs, schools and churches.
The first committee meeting will be held tonight at the Castle in Worcester Road, starting at 6pm. Anyone interested in lending a hand can call Richard on 01905 775395.
