IN reply to Mr Kessell's letter (Advertiser, October 27), I will say this.

Yes, you were right about the inquiry concerning the Studley bypass. It was a waste of time and taxpayers' money.

This was brought about by Warwickshire County Council's inability to grasp and accept graciously the bypass will not follow the western route.

You convieniently did not say in your letter there is an alternative easterly route, as you probably know, and which Warwickshire County Council stubbornly refuses to acknowledge.

Jacqui Smith MP represents all of the Redditch constituency, which she does with wholehearted dedication, of which you have first-hand experience.

There are a great number of her constituents who are very concerned about having large numbers of vehicles re-routed through the Redditch environs and she understood this and listened to their concerns.

She also listened to both sides, which is more than can be said for Warwickshire County Council.

Ms Smith then supported her constituents in their concerns at the inquiry, which is her prerogative.

The route from Rough Hill Drive roundabout which would have fed the bypass, for your information, would have passed very close to the hospital.

The problem is Warwickshire County Council, in its wisdom, has stubbornly refused to listen to common sense in this matter and has chosen to ignore that there is a viable alternative easterly route and this has cost the taxpayer dearly.

Warwickshire County Council has decided Studley does not need a bypass becaues it refuses to concede there is an alternative to the bypass which will not happen.

So put your complaints to the the county council about traffic problems and not Ms Smith and the residents of Redditch.

Perhaps the county council might listen to you...but I doubt it.
