POLICE in Alcester and Bidford were kept busy on Sunday night as Halloween revellers went into action - though the event seems to have passed without major problems.

There were just three incidents reported in Alcester - but Pc Steve Timms spent most of the night on the Conway estate and believes his presence could have kept trouble down.

He said: "There were a lot of youngsters and older teenagers about, some trick or treating and others just being a bit silly. Most of them were well behaved but there were a few throwing eggs which they seem to think is fine as it's Halloween.

"That's nonsense and if we found anyone doing that, they were taken home and their parents were informed.

"We didn't find anyone with eggs, unfortunately, though we did find some youngsters running away from a house and they were taken home and warned about their behaviour."

Pc Timms said shopkeepers in the town had been asked not to sell eggs to young people in the run-up to Halloween.

There were three reported incidents in Bidford and another in Broom.

Pc Peter Gateley said: "There were some fireworks being thrown but it was mostly trick or treat-related incidents."

There were a further eight incidents in Studley and 22 across the Stratford district.
