THE Christmas spirit will be parcelled up and given to every homeless person in the Faithful City this year.
For the fourth year in a row, St Barnabas' Church, Green Lane, Rainbow Hill, is asking the public to decorate old shoe-boxes with Christmas wrapping paper, and fill them with treats to bring a bit of festive cheer to people who are often left out of traditional family celebrations.
The church will distribute the collection to the homeless community through hostels and organisations like Maggs Day Centre and the YMCA, in the run-up to Christmas Day.
Appeal co-ordinator Jean Kennedy suggests items like children's toys, chocolates, toiletries and anything that might be useful for a homeless person.
"We are aiming to get a Christmas box to every homeless person in Worcester this year," said Mrs Kennedy.
She added that last year's campaign had been a success, and that, this year, she hoped it would be even better.
Any filled boxes - marked if it is for a man, woman or child - can be dropped off at St Barnabas' between Saturday, December 11 and Saturday, December 18.
