CHADDESLEY Corbett squandered a two-goal lead in the final 15 minutes of their league encounter with Atherstone Adders to only end up with a 2-2 draw.
But results elsewhere mean that Chaddesley climb to 10th in the league, a high for the season. They were bolstered by the surprise presence of Nick Hemmings and had sufficient strength in depth to leave out Dave Perry.
In the early stages, the Atherstone forwards were well marshalled by the rearguard of Andy Green, Neil Finnigan and Terry Banks, while time and space was hard to find for Matt Boden and Oliver Owen-Smith further upfield.
The only goal of the first half came on the 23 minute mark when Tom Boden squeezed home an Owen-Smith pass.
As Chaddesley's midfield tired in the second half, Atherstone began to dominate possession. Against the run of play Matt Boden found himself clean through but wasted the chance. Fortunately his mistake was not to prove costly as he converted a short corner minutes later to put Chaddesley two up.
Inevitably Atherstone's possession told in the closing stages. First Sam Boden was nutmegged and then beaten again by a superb short corner.
Julian Fallows kept trying to drive the side on from the centre of midfield, but Chaddesley will have to wait at least another week for that elusive first win.
A trip to fellow strugglers Aston University next Saturday offers an excellent opportunity to break that duck. The same fixture last season ended in a flood of goals as Chaddesley ran out 9-2 winners with Matt Boden claiming seven of them.
