A POLICE officer who served with Gloucestershire Constabulary is now head of security at University College Worcester.
Roy Tyler spent 27 years with the force, covering a range of duties, including being a member of the team providing security for the royal households of Highgrove, the home of Prince Charles, and Gatcombe Park, Princess Anne's residence.
He is now looking forward to raising the profile of security at the St John's college and creating better links with staff, students and the local community.
"We're looking to continue making the UCW campus secure, safe and friendly, and this will include raising the number of visible patrols," he said.
"New CCTV cameras are also being installed, so it really is a new look and direction for security at the University College."
Since retiring from the police, Mr Tyler has also worked as an independent road safety officer and provided security for Worcester based Reality, before joining UCW.
UCW Principal, Professor David Green, welcomed Mr Tyler to his new position.
"We are introducing a range of extra security measures on campus, including more visible patrols, and Roy will be a key player in the development and implementation of these areas," he said.
