I AND many other parents are disgusted with the huge increase in bus fares for our children to travel to school on the First bus from the Greenhill area of Kidderminster.
Some notification would have been welcomed as children were left stranded on Monday as they were not allowed to travel home as they no longer had the correct fare!
Until today we were paying 85p for a return fare. This return fare has now been scrapped and replaced by a single fare of 80p each way (previously 60p).
It is now going to cost us £3.20 a day to send our to children to school as opposed to £1.70 per day prior to the half term holidays - an increase of 88 per cent !
As working parents we rely on this bus service to get our children to school safely and for us to be able to arrive at our jobs on time.
We would love our children to be able to walk to school, but due to the distance involved, together with the hazards of having to cross the dual carriageway of the Birmingham Road, this is really not a feasible option .
The bus company's reply to my complaint is that the new price structure is easier and that there had not been a price increase in three years, which I dispute.
How can they justify such a massive increase in a bus fare.
