A PERSHORE woman cooked a lunch for family and friends to mark her 90th birthday and then made a donation of £400 to Pershore Relief in Sickness charity.
"When you get to my age you don't really want presents.
"So I asked people to make donations for the charity instead," said Jessie Stockhall, of Roland Rutter Court, Pershore.
"I chose this charity because I was particularly grateful to the nurses for the support they gave when my late husband Frank was ill some nine years ago."
Mrs Stockhall said although she did most of the cooking herself, she had plenty of help on the day from the 65-70 people she catered for on October 29.
"I didn't know where I was going to seat them all, but I managed," she said.
Sarah Wilson, chairman of Pershore Relief in Sickness, said: "I am absolutely delighted with this donation.
"It was extremely kind of her to think of us.
"I think it is due to the fact that the nurses do such a wonderful job in the town."
