A DISABLED Evesham pensioner suffered an asthma attack after eggs were thrown at her window in a suspected Halloween prank.
Veronica Thould, aged 62 from Fairfield Road, was so frightened by the incident on Sunday night she has been struggling to sleep. Following the attack she switched all her lights off and spent the rest of the evening in the dark.
Miss Thould, who has mobility and hearing difficulties, said: "It was getting on for 8pm and there had been groups going round the area all night. Suddenly I heard a thud on the window and it was so unexpected it brought on an asthma attack.
"I was really frightened, so I rang up my friend and she told me to turn all my lights off - I even turned my heater off because it has a light on it. I know my neighbour next door had eggs thrown at his property, and my friend was plagued on Thursday night.
"My security light went on and I did see a group walking off so I told them to come back and clean up the mess. I think some of them knew I was living on my own but they just thought it was a joke.
"We are plagued something awful by the gangs of kids around here and I am frightened now about what else is going to happen to me. There are older people living around here in their 80s and what they think of this I just don't know. Something should be done."
Evesham police spokesman Richard Bull confirmed officers were investigating complaints about the behaviour of youngsters in the Fairfield Road area. He added: "We are aware there were youngsters in the area at that time, aged between seven and 14. We would like to identify them so if anyone saw something I would urge them to come forward."
