AN EVESHAM teenager's eyes were smiling in Ireland when Greg Hay returned home from the World Tae Kwon Do Championships with two gold medals.
The AIMAA event took place in Dublin and the 16-year-old succeeded beyond his wildest dreams as he took individual and team gold.
Just for good measure the Evesham High School pupil finished fourth out of 52 competitors in the Patterns when missing out on another medal by half a point.
However, he was celebrating the next day in the continuous sparring discipline when he overcame an amazing nine opponents from America, Australia, Japan, Korea, Ireland and even one of his own England teammates on his way to the final.
He was in confident mood against his opponent from the USA having already defeated the reigning world champion from Hawaii.
Just 20 seconds remained in the final when Hay broke the Anwerican's nose and he was awarded first place to take the gold medal and call himself world champion.
Not content with that success, Hay accepted an invitation to help the England team and he found himself with seven more fights. He again proved unbeatable while helping his team to victory and becoming a dual world champion in the process.
