THE popular Severn Valley Railway is in the running to be listed as one of the seven wonders of the West Midlands.
Banks's Brewery has shortlisted the historic tourist attraction in a competition running in more than 1,500 pubs and 200 supermarkets across the region.
It is up against strong competition from another 25 contenders including Weston Park, Ironbridge and Warwick Castle.
The shortlist was selected by Birmingham historian, Dr Carl Chinn, using strict criteria including beauty, historical significance, international recognition and regional importance.
"There are some wonderful buildings as well as some attractions including the Severn Valley Railway that bring excitement and visitors to the area," he said.
