THE increased use of the Hospital Lane playing field in Powick has prompted moves to create an official management group.
At an inaugural meeting this week, a shadow committee was formed, with parish councillor Jim Allsopp as chairman, to get the new Hospital Lane Playing Field Association off the ground.
As the parish council owns the land, members want to avoid a conflict of interest by stepping back from the committee and letting other parishioners take the reins, as they have successfully done at Callow End.
"There were a number of residents at the first meeting, which was encouraging, but we would like to get some more parents involved," said council chairman Andy Lamb.
One of the first things that needed to be done was to get a storage container, so that equipment could be stored there, freeing up space for changing in the pavilion.
"There is already enough money from the two football clubs playing there at the moment to pay for a storage container," he said.
