THE manager of Worcester Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre has said the complex is now much cleaner than it was earlier this year.
Kate McKnight said cleaners have been contracted to go in at nights and clean all areas including the floors, urinals, mirrors and sinks.
In the morning, the duty manager of the Sansome Walk centre will check that the job has been done properly.
Cleaners also scrub down the changing room cubicles once a week.
An hourly checklist is signed by staff to show that an area has been checked for cleanliness.
She said throughout the day, staff walking around the centre would keep an eye out for any dropped litter.
"I haven't had any complaints about bins over-flowing or major cleanliness problems for about five months," she said.
"There was originally a problem with cleanliness but since we've had a cleaning schedule in place it has been fine."
However, one woman who takes her 16-month-old daughter swimming every Sunday claims the state of the centre has gradually deteriorated.
In a letter to the Evening News she claims to have seen over-flowing bins in changing rooms, a cigarette butt near the teaching pool and litter in the family changing rooms.
She said the last straw was their family trip on Sunday, October 17.
"One of the 'family' changing rooms had a pile of dirty, smelly nappies piled up in one corner," wrote the woman.
"When I told the receptionist she told me that someone would be along shortly to clean it up. However, 45 minutes later, after our swim, they were still there."
