SADLY the death was announced on October 19 of Mrs Diana Shorrick. Though she was a retiring person, her artistic abilities helped in the making of many village projects over the years, including the wall hanging now in the church and the new sign for the hall. Diana and Neville were able to celebrate their Golden Wedding surrounded by their family shortly before her death. A memorial service was held at St Michael's Church, Ledbury, on Tuesday this week and in due course her ashes will be interred in our own village cemetery.
The Garden Club meets as usual on Wednesday, November 10, at 7.45pm when the subject of the talk will be Lillies and Summer Bulbs. The speaker is Mr Donald Everitt from the Somerset & Avon Group of the National Council for the Conservation of Parks & Gardens. At this time of year, and particularly now that the evenings have become darker, this illustrated talk should bring back the summer and cheer us up.
November 14 is Remembrance Sunday and the customary service will be held in the Memorial Hall at 10.30am to honour all those who gave their lives so that we could live in safety. Reverend Howard Mayell will conduct the service.
On Saturday, November 13, the Ledbury Community Choir is organising a ceilidh in the hall from 7.30-11.30pm. Tickets are £5 which includes refreshments.
