PERRYWOOD put out a strengthened side against Welland in this Bayliss Cup match after Welland had upset their 100 per cent record in the league earlier in the season.
PERRYWOOD 3, WELLAND ATHLETIC 3
After Perrywood had hit the bar and blazed the rebound over, Welland scored a remarkable goal when Derrington drifted in from the left and drove the ball fully 33 yards into the roof of the net.
Fifteen minutes later a weak back header allowed poacher Derrington to nip in for his second and on the stroke of half time when Jo Taylor was upended in the box, Derrington had the chance to clinch a first half hat-trick.
His shot was well saved and gave a lifeline to a bemused Perrywood team who had done most of the attacking.
A reply by Perrywood on 60 minutes was cancelled out when Taylor followed up well to bundle the ball in but at 75 minutes Perrywood grabbed their second goal.
Thackeray and Jelleyman played well in Welland's defence, whilst Kitchener and Nineham closed down quickly in midfield.
A long clearance by Perrywood enable a breakaway equaliser in the dying moments and rescued a point for the home side in this cup pool game.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Welland play Lamb & Flag at Worcester.
