PEOPLE from towns and villages around the Malvern Hills will be remembering those who died for their country next week.
The Royal British Legion and local churches are organising services for residents old and young to pay their respects.
Upton: There will be two minutes' silence outside the Memorial Hall at 11am on Thursday (November 11) when the Royal British Legion standard and representatives will be present. Wreaths will be laid by both the men's and women's sections.
On Sunday, November 14, a parade will form at the bottom of New Street at 10.15am and proceed to the Parish Church for a service at 10.45am.
Between 11.45am and 12.15pm, the parade will march to the old churchyard (Pepperpot) for the Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths.
West Worcestershire MP Sir Michael Spicer, representatives from town and district councils, the Severn Area Rescue Association, West Mercia Police and the Army Cadets will be taking part in the parade. The Fire Service, Upton Rowing Club, Rotary, Upton Rugby Club, Angling Club, Scouts, Guides, Beavers, Brownies and Upton Primary School will also be included.
Bromyard: A service of hymns and prayers takes place outside the Public Hall at 11am on Thursday (November 11).
On Sunday, November 14, a parade, meeting at The Conquest Theatre car park at 2.30pm, will march through the town to St Peter's Church for a service at 3pm. Tenbury Town Band will accompany the march and the Territorial Army, Scouts, Army Cadets, Brownies and Fire Service will be taking part.
Hanley Swan: A wreath-laying ceremony takes place at 9.45am on Sunday, November 14, at St Gabriel's Church.
Hanley Castle: A service takes place at St Mary's Church, on Sunday, November 14, gathering outside at 10.30am.
Welland: A wreath-laying ceremony takes place at 10am on Sunday, November 14, at St James's Church.
West Malvern: This year's service involves the Leigh and West Malvern branches of the Royal British Legion and will be held at St James's Church on Sunday, November 14, at 6.30pm. A certificate of appreciation ceremony will be held afterwards at the Royal British Legion Club in West Malvern. People who have helped to sell poppies for the last five years will be presented with certificates.
Malvern Wells: Parish councillors will hold a small service in the village hall on Sunday, November 14. There will be a parade from the village hall at 11.45am to the cenotaph for prayers.Tea and biscuits will be available afterwards at the village hall.
Cradley: The Cradley, Storridge and Mathon branch of the Royal British Legion and the Malvern and District Royal Engineers Association will meet at 10.40am on Sunday, November 14, in Church Lane, Cradley, before marching to Cradley Church.
Colwall: Members of the Royal British Legion and parishioners will gather at 10.30am on Sunday, November 14. A wreath will be laid at St James's Church war memorial before the congregation moves inside for a service.
Callow End and Powick: A service will be held on Thursday (November 11) at the Callow End war memorial, at 10.40am.
The Callow End and Powick branch of the Royal British legion will be holding two different services on Sunday, November 14. Those wishing to take part in the Powick service should meet at 10.30am on Sunday, November 14, in the Red Lion car park for a parade to St Peter's Church.
The Callow End service will be held at St James's Church. Meet at the war memorial at 2.30pm. After the service, everyone is welcome to the Old Bush, on Upton Road for refreshments.
Newent: A service will take place at St. Mary's Church on Thursday (November 11) at 10am. A service will be held at 10am on Sunday, November 14, at St. Mary's Church. The congregation will move outside to lay a wreath at the memorial. The Scouts, Brownies, Sea Cadets, Territorial Army and Girl Guides are among the groups taking part.
Much Marcle: The Royal British Legion will be holding a service at St Bartholomew's Church on Sunday, November 14, at 9.45am.
Little Marcle: The local branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a service at Little Marcle Church, Sunday, November 14, at 10.45am.
Alfrick: A service takes place at 9am on Sunday, November 14, at St Mary's Church, before a parade to the village war memorial. This will be followed by a service at 10.45am at St Edburga's Church, Leigh, attended by the Leigh and District Royal British Legion who will line up outside the church and parade the standard.
Suckley: An evening service will take place at 6pm at St John the Baptist Church. Candles will be lit in memory of those lost in both world wars.
