WORCESTER City's young guns have given boss John Barton an interesting dilemma ahead of the FA Trophy first round home clash with Chippenham Town tomorrow (3pm).
Liam McDonald, Shabir Khan and Tom Warmer all provided Barton with food for thought with mature displays in Monday's 2-1 Carthium Cup win over Staf-ford Rangers.
But, without revealing whether there would be recalls for the experienced Colin Hoyle, Pat Lyons and Paul Carty, the City manager, whose team have gone five games unbeaten, insisted consistency would be the key.
Barton said: "Stafford was just a one-off game. You have got to be consistent before your colours are nailed to the mast.
Message
"It's a 16-man effort and for those not in the first 11 I would say 'Let me see the disappointment and then do something about it'. That's my message.
"We have Danny McDonnell, Jay Stanley, Barry Woolley, Christian Moore and Mark Owen out injured. There aren't too many clubs that could have come through that situation. It's testament to what we have built up here over a period of time. We have had a really tough batch of fixtures recently."
Meanwhile, Barton revealed striker Adam Webster would again play through an ankle injury that will require a scan on Monday. And he is calling for powerful strike partner Leon Kelly to reproduce his top form in order to fire City through to the second round tomorrow.
