LEFT-back Jon Beswetherick has become Shaun Cunnington's first outfield signing as caretaker boss at Kidderminster Harriers.
Beswetherick, also a target of past bosses Ian Britton and Jan Molby, has joined on non-contract terms and should make his debut tomorrow at home to Boston United.
The 26-year-old, who has a wealth of experience at Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday, was released by Bristol Rovers after just one Carling Cup appearance this season.
Cunnington wants to stamp his mark on the team after a first full week at the helm and has brought in Beswetherick to increase his options down the left flank.
He felt his side were unlucky to lose 1-0 in a promising display at home to fellow Coca-Cola League Two strugglers Shrewsbury Town last weekend.
The former youth team chief is likely to have until the end of the month to impress and a few wins will do wonders as he stakes a claim for the job permanently.
But the games are not going to get any easier for bottom-of-the-table Harriers whose November league agenda features a home fixture with Boston tomorrow before they visit Grimsby and host Northampton.
Cunnington said: "There's no better feeling than winning football matches and we've got to start doing that quickly.
"The players have got to believe in their own ability and want the ball and want to win for themselves and the club.
"There's enough quality, even with our horrendous injuries, to get out of this situation."
Cunnington's injury-ravaged squad will be boosted by the return of skipper and key centre-half Wayne Hatswell from a one-game ban.
Harriers can at least name a full subs bench this time with Ian Foster (knee), Frederic Advice-Desruisseaux (flu) and loan 'keeper Ben Foster (stomach bug) expected to be available.
Midfielder Lee Jenkins hurt his back yesterday in training but should still take his place alongside Dean Keates in the middle.
Cunnington could keep faith with teenage midfielder Simon Russell who gave a promising display against Shrewsbury in only his second start.
Winger Simon Brown has extended his loan spell from West Brom until the end of the season but is among five injured players out of the equation, at least for another two weeks.
Striker Iyseden Christie's operation revealed an infection from the pin in his broken foot which will now sideline him until Christmas. Midfielder Micky Mel-lon had a clean-out operation on his Achilles and is to miss another two months or more, while 'keeper John Danby (foot) is another four to six weeks away.
On the final day of last season, Harriers registered their first victory over Boston, a 2-0 success, since the Lincolnshire side were promoted to the Football League in 2002.
Steve Evans' team have failed to win in their last three games, while Harriers go into tomorrow's fixture on the back of three straight defeats without scoring a goal.
