CHARACTER can be an overused word at times -- but that was what we showed lots of against Droylsden on Saturday in what was a tremendous result for us in Nationwide North.

We played some outstanding football against a very good side. You are not going to get anything better than our performance in the second-half, which pleased me a lot, and hopefully we can continue that at Bradford Park Avenue.

It was finely balanced in the first-half and it was important to come in level at half-time, especially after we got a bit of luck when Droylsden hit the post.

But after that, we looked the stronger side, showing brightness, invention, and chances came as well. We are still conceding too many goals and we must look at ourselves for the two we leaked in, but there were many more positives outweighing the negatives.

There was a lot of solid performances all round. Shabir Khan came through strongly after his mistake which led to the first goal, while the two full-backs, Rob Warner and Les Hines, gave a great account of themselves. The quality that Hines has been showing for the last few weeks is at a level way above ours.

As for Tom Warmer -- more of the same, please. He put himself about and was involved in all three of our goals.

There was a run across the box for the penalty, a terrific pass and a great run from Adam Webster for the second goal, and he's done his bit pulling the ball back for the third.

There was something about Tom when he came on at Harrogate earlier this season, which was not lost on me. You can also make the case that he turned the game for us against Altrincham.

It is good to see Webby among the goals again and all we need now is for Leon Kelly to get back to what he was. I thought they were the best pair of strikers in the league at the start of the season, not just because of the goals but also because of their effort and workrate.

Leon has gone through a bit of a lean time but he has never let us down with his honest endeavour. He was another that worked hard and chased things at Droylsden.

The injury list goes on again although we won't know the extent of the Nick Colley's injury until tomorrow.

I feel sorry for Nick because he's had an outstanding last month and stuck in there and battled away. Without going over the past, he's stuck his head on the line and responded well.

Liam McDonald is also looking unlikely for Saturday. He's been feeling uncomfortable with his knee for a while and it just gave way on him.

There may be some compensation in that Paul Carty will be available for the game at Bradford.
