TWO-goal striker Adam Webster was the inspiration behind an excellent Worcester City performance at St. George's Lane last night as visiting Moor Green were hammered 4-1 in a Nationwide North clash.
Webster produced his best display in City colours with his movement and link-up play which ripped Moor Green apart and eased the blue and whites into second place in the table.
What made the display even more impressive was the fact that City again came from a goal down, showing there is plenty of spirit in the side to go along with the undoubted ability.
City enjoyed most of the possession in the first-half, but it was in the second period that they really came alive, opening up the visitors' defence with quick incisive passing.
The home side might have gone in front twice in the opening half-an-hour, but Pat Lyons' terrific volley bounced off the underside of the crossbar and then Barry Woolley's close range effort was cleared off the line by Luke Bradley.
Moor Green then shook their hosts by going ahead on 33 minutes.
A quickly taken free-kick caught City out and, following a fine pass from Daire Doyle, former City player Darren Middleton coolly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Danny McDonnell.
The visitors then briefly took control, but City hit back with two goals in the last five minutes of the first-half.
They equalised through Webster's crisp 20- yard drive after a fine build-up involving Lyons and Jai Stanley. The striker then made it five goals in four games with a glancing header from Les Hines' superbly delivered right-wing corner.
This was just the lift City needed and they took the second-half by storm.
Stanley created number three for Kelly who got in front of his marker before lifting the ball into the bottom corner. Woolley then headed home from 12 yards after Moor Green failed to deal with a long throw-in from Rob Warner.
Moor Green goalkeeper Adam Rachel denied Webster a deserved hat-trick, but it didn't matter -- the crowd's standing ovation at the end said it all about this City display.
