PLANS to erect a wind generator in an Area of Great Landscape Value in a Worcestershire village have been met by opposition from nearby residents.
Malvern Hills District Council has received an application for the scheme at Noak Farm Barn in Clifton on Teme.
The site is on a hill with a large, listed barn under conversion for residential use and the wind generator would be 36ft high.
Several residents have contacted the council objecting to the scheme on the grounds of noise pollution and adverse visual impact.
They also argue that the turbine is highly prominent and intrusive.
And the parish council strongly objects to the scheme, arguing that the workshop is disproportionate in relation to the barn.
The Council for the Protection of Rural England has requested more information regarding wind speeds, power created and other alternative power sources available.
But planning officers say they feel an acceptable scheme can be achieved and that any impact on the landscape or listed building would be minimal.
It is due to be discussed at a meeting of the district council's northern area development control committee at 6pm on Wednesday.
