AN EXTENSION could be built at a Grade II listed farmhouse to accommodate a kitchen and day room if planners give the thumbs-up.

Malvern Hills District Council has received a application for the scheme - which relates to Woodbury Farm, in Bank Road, Little Witley.

The building dates back to the early 18th Century and is located within a small group of houses on Bank Road approximately 160ft from the village centre of Little Witley.

The proposal takes the form of three new main rooms - two to the east elevation comprising a kitchen/dining and day room and a kids room/study on the north elevation.

Three nearby residents have contacted the council raising concerns that the extensions are too large and that a child's room would be likely to cause noise.

They also say the development would be far too dominant and out of keeping with existing properties in the area.

But planning officers feel the proposed development would be sympathetic to the character of the listed building and are recommending the scheme is approved.

The application is due to be determined at a meeting of the district council's northern area development control committee at 6pm on Wednesday.
