IT was a bleak Christmas for 13 dogs who were found straying across Wychavon over the festive period.
A Yorkshire terrier, a greyhound, a collie puppy and a labrador are just some of the animals that were picked up by members of the public between Christmas Eve and New Year.
The homeless hounds are now waiting to be adopted by loving families.
Pip Singleton, Wychavon District Council's dog warden, said buying a pet at Christmas seems like a good idea but often people can't cope and let them run off.
"If you can't cope with a new pet or need help to make your pet feel more welcome we can help," he added.
"Thirteen is an unlucky number, so please help make 2005 a lucky year for these dogs."
Contact the dog team on 01386 565015 for help, or if you would like to offer a home to one of the strays.
