MALVERN Rugby Club are holding their annual summer event on Saturday, July 3, and are looking for teams to take part in a tug-of-war competition.
There will be three events on the day, which is sponsored by Edwards Mazda. First, an open event for serious tug-of-war teams from around the three counties will be the main feature of the day. However, there is also a club trophy for teams entered by sports clubs from the area - rugby, soccer, skittles or bowls clubs - it doesn't matter, as this competition is likely to be decided as much by tactics as brawn.
Finally, there will be a fun event for the youngsters so they can try their hand on the rope.
Teams wishing to enter should contact John Barker on 01684 569527.
The tug-of-war will be a centre piece of a day which will see displays of tag rugby, bowling for a pig and the chance to be taken for a spin in the country in a Morgan sports car.
The Malvern Lynx Marching Band will be in full regalia, whilst archery will also be a feature of the day. The Fire Service is bringing a fire engine and some of the firefighters will be on hand to talk about their work. There is also face painting, a bouncy castle and a variety of stalls.
The adults will be able to indulge in wine tasting whilst there will be real ale on hand for lovers of the hop, with plenty of softer refreshment available as well.
A tombola and raffle with a superb range of prizes will be held and a balloon race will be held - how far will the winner fly?
Malvern Rugby Club are grateful to Malvern Hills District Council for all the support the council has given the club as part of the promotion of Sport in the Community, for which Malvern RFC has been awarded special status by the RFU.
All donations after expenses from the summer event will go to further development at the club and purchase of play equipment available to children on match days.
