A SOLAR-powered sign warning motorists of their speed could be set up between two Worcestershire villages.
However, Rock Parish Council, which covers both Far Forest and Callow Hill, near Bewdley, may have to contribute up to £2,000 for the £10,000 vehicle activated sign, which lights up the speed of a vehicle as it passes over sensors, proposed for the A117.
Its chairman, Keith Perkins, said a meeting on Monday, January 24, would focus on whether they could afford it.
"Speeding is a problem," said Mr Perkins. "You frequently get people driving up to 60mph."
Kay Clarkson, a resident of Far Forest, who began the campaign highlighting the problem, said a speed camera would be the ideal solution but the road did not fit the criteria necessary for one as there have not been enough speed related crashes.
"We need some traffic calming measures," she said. "Why should we have to wait for an accident to happen?"
The speed limit on the road through the villages varies from 30mph and 40mph.
