STUNG by a jibe that she was "Chunky Spice" to her David Beckham lookalike husband, Heather Moore shed the pounds to get a more Posh-like figure.

She lost three stone, eight pounds in 30 weeks after overhearing someone make the withering comment during one of her husband, Gary's, appearances as the double of the Real Madrid superstar.

"I wanted to feel proud to stand next to my Beckham hubby and not disappear into the crowd, hoping people wouldn't see me," she said.

Mrs Moore, of Offmore Farm, decided to join a Slimming World class with some of her work colleagues. "I tried every diet under the sun, from cabbage soup through to Atkins but, apart from being hard to stick to, they were boring and limited so many things I like," she explained.

Support and encouragement she received from the other class members and her consultant, who ran the class, helped her to continue losing weight, she added.

Mrs Moore was also encouraged to take regular exercise in addition to the horse riding she was already doing and went for a walk in her lunch hour.

"I never had the time or the inclination to exercise before but going for a brisk walk with your friends not only makes exercise enjoyable, it relieves the stresses of the day."

Her group has nominated her for the Slimming World title of Miss Slinky, which will be judged in the next few months.

She said: "Eight months ago I was definitely Chunky Spice but now I hope to hold the title of Slinky Spice."

Mrs Moore was so happy with her achievement that she has decided to train as a Slimming World consultant and will be running her own group at Blakedown C of E Primary School.

The class opens today and anyone interested can go along to the meeting or call Mrs Moore on 01562 636741.
