THE captain of Evesham cricket club is still waiting to discover his future.
Barry Clements was suspended after being arrested before Christmas whilst playing in South Africa.
But the charges were dropped and he was able to return home for the holiday period.
Bob Shaw, secretary of the cricket club, said the committee had not had time to meet to consider the captaincy for next season.
Mr Clements was taken into custody at Johannesburg International Airport and questioned in connection with an alleged non-payment of hotel bills and the theft of a mobile phone.
He had been due to appear in court but charges were dropped and he was allowed to travel home.
Club chairman, David Higginson, told the Journal before Christmas that the committee wanted to hear the captain's side of the story before making a decision but hinted that Barry Clements is likely to be reinstated.
"If it is a case of a genuine misunderstanding and he has been cleared of all charges and Barry wants to continue it is likely he will be reinstated. We will wait and see."
Secretary of the club Bob Shaw said he had not yet been in touch with Mr Clements since his return and it was not known if the player planned to return to South Africa where he had been playing for a club side since October. Mr Clements was not available for comment.
