POLICE have referred an investigation concerning a fracas between an Evesham town councillor and the Mayor of Worcester's chauffeur to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Before Christmas, the Journal reported a complaint by Councillor Paul Rencher who alleged he had been assaulted by the Mayor of Worcester's chauffeur Steve Baker at the annual Ball which he gatecrashed on December 3.
The Mayor of Worcester, Allah Ditta also made an official complaint to The Standards Board for England against Cllr Rencher's conduct during the evening.
Evesham beat manager, Paul Adams said: "A file has been submitted to the CPS for advice after a full investigation was carried out into all matters relating to the incident." The Standards Board has not yet confirmed whether a formal investigation is to held following Cllr Ditta's complaint.
