Kidderminster Harriers Ladies reserves and Burlish Olympic Ladies rang in the New Year with a glut of goals in the Worcestershire County League.

Harriers Ladies were in fantastic form as they hammered Droitwich Spa 11-1 on Sunday.

For the first 15 minutes it was a scrappy game with both teams struggling to play any controlled football, but slowly Harriers started to pass the ball about freely and opened up the Droitwich defence. In the 19th minute, Sue Stokes opened the scoring after latching on to a through ball down the left and she doubled the scoring five minutes later by convertingf a cross from the right.

Stokes completed her quick-fire hat-trick on 27 minutes with a drilled shot from 12 yards after escaping down the left. Lisa Preece netted Harriers' fourth in the 33rd minute when she scored at the far post, Kirsty Roberts got her name on the score sheet three minutes later from the edge of the box and Lynsey Pollard volleyed in the sixth goal just before the break.

Harriers started the second half strongly and made it seven on 48 minutes when Kirsty Sheppard blasted the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Two minutes later Roberts got her second and Kidderminster's eighth after a great solo run. Droitwich pulled back a consolation goal but it was soon normal service resumed as Harriers scored three more.

Sheppard made it 9-1 with a curling 25-yard free kick which completely deceived the keeper, and after Lisa Stokes brought up double figures with clinical finish, Sheppard completed the scoring from close range on 83 minutes.

Next week the reserves are away at Worcester City, while the first team return to action at Cosford.

There was an equally convincing win for Burlish Olympic Ladies who thrashed Bredon 10-0 -- although the visitors could only raise nine players for the fixture.Debbie Prescott led the way with five goals, while Carla Worrall bagged a brace. Louise Watt opened her account for the club and Katy Jakeman's strike and an own goal completed the scoring.
