Fairfield Villa 2, Littleton 1
IN a physical game, Littleton were edged out by a robust Fairfield side.
Littleton kicked against the wind in the first half and were indebted in the 25th minute to a great save by Pritchard, who somehow clawed away a goalbound drive.
At the other end a Matthew Edwards cross was met by a Chris Bate header, which was cleared off the line.
Littleton started the second half in dominating fashion and took the lead on 59 minutes when a long ball into the area was misjudged by the defence, and the ball fell to Philip Haines, who converted from ten yards.
For the next ten minutes the visitors laid siege to the home goal and went close through Major and Staley.
However, two goals in ten minutes at the other end turned the game on its head. Following a disputed corner a clearance hit a Littleton defender and shot into the net. Then Lloyd Dawkins broke clear and scored from ten yards.
Littleton almost equalised and felt that the ball crossed the line, but the referee was unsighted following a massive goalmouth scramble.
Littleton are at home to table-toppers Atherstone on Saturday.
