LEYTON Orient left-back Billy Jones signed for Kidderminster Harriers today to spark off an expected influx of players.
Jones, 21, has settled his contract at Harriers' Coca-Cola League Two rivals and penned a deal at Aggborough until the end of the season this morning.
Ex-Tottenham, Southend and Hull midfielder David Lee has checked in on trial and boss Stuart Watkiss is trying to capture Doncaster's John McGrath before Saturday's home game with Lincoln City.
With non-contract winger Dave Morrison due to receive international clearance today after leaving Irish side Bohemians, Watkiss is also pursuing a central midfield man and wide right player.
After left-back Jon Beswetherick and centre-half Liam Burns were released from their non-contract stays yesterday, Jones has agreed to join Harriers' battle to stay in the Football League.
Watkiss, who revealed he missed out on a swoop for Wycombe Wanderers' experienced winger Steve Guppy, said: "It will be good to get Billy on board.
"Everything is done and dusted for him now at Orient. He hasn't played any first-team football this season but we are not going to get a perfect scenario with our league position.
"He did play about 80 games over a couple of seasons when Matt Lockwood was injured and has played a few as a left-sided centre-half as well. He's 6ft tall and is a danger at deadball situations with his left foot.
"Fair play to our board who have freed money up to enable me to get players although we still cannot pay silly money.
"Billy went training with Milton Keynes Dons so I had a chat with Jimmy Gilligan who was the caretaker there. He said if he'd got the manager's job at the club, he'd have taken him on.
"Martin Ling speaks highly of him at Orient and believes he just needs a change. They already have the best left-back in the division."
Watkiss added: "We're also trying to sign a lad from Doncaster, John McGrath, who can play wide left, left-back or central midfield. He has been told he can leave.
"And I spoke to Steve Guppy, who is non-contract at Wycombe, but he has aspirations of going out to America to play."
Lee, 24, was released by League One outfit Oldham after nine games this season but his best spell has been at Southend where he scored 10 times in 52 games.
And 24-year-old McGrath, who turned out twice for his first club Aston Villa, is out of favour at Doncaster, spending an eight-game loan spell at Shrewsbury until mid-October.
