Organist and choirmaster Paul Derrett will play at Upton Parish Church for the last time on Sunday (January 9).
Mr Derrett, who has been at St Peter and St Paul's for more than two years, is moving to Holy Trinity Church, in Hull, where he and his wife Serena will be joint directors of music.
Mr Derrett was previously director of music at Shrewsbury Abbey. He moved to Dymock seven years ago and later joined Upton Parish Church.
He said he would be sad to leave the church and choir but was keen to take on a new project.
"They've been lovely people to work with and it's done me a power of good," he said.
"There's a lot I will miss but, on the other hand, I think I've taken it more or less as far as it will go and I'm ambitious to go back to a bigger church."
Holy Trinity is believed to be the largest parish church in the country but has a choir of only six, something Mr and Mrs Derrett plan to rectify.
A new choirmaster has not yet been appointed at Upton, although Mr Derrett said there were a number of people interested in the job.
Anyone who would like to apply, should call Rev Chris Hardwick on 01684 591241.
