MALVERN Premier's Worcester Sunday League division one match against league leaders Exel Star & Garter was abandoned at Victoria Park on Sunday after a visiting player sustained a broken lower leg.
The visiting table toppers were leading 4-0 at the time but after a 40-minute delay before the player was moved, the match was later abandoned.
Match referee Steven Plane said the injury came in the 58th minute at 4-0 but after the lengthy delay the players tried to play on. However, some players later left the field and the match was abandoned in the 70th minute when the score was 5-0.
Mr Plane said: "It was just a very ordinary block-type tackle that caused the break but after the long delay some players walked off and I had no option but to abandon the game."
