A generous donor left an extraordinary Christmas gift after attending a concert for the Worcester Appeal for Music and Light.
The concert, at Madresfield Court on December 11, featured Worcester Cathedral Choir and was attended by more than 130 people.
One visitor was so impressed that he left a cheque for £100,000 to the appeal.
Appeal chairman Lady Rosalind Morrison, said: "We're absolutely thrilled with the success of the concert and overwhelmed by the generosity of the anonymous donor.
"It really does round off the year well and sets the pace for the next stage of our project."
The appeal aims to set up a Choral Music Foundation, install two new pipe organs and a new lighting system at Worcester Cathedral.
