A man from Evesbatch was left severely traumatised after confronting burglars at his home.
The victim, who police say is too shocked and upset to be named, was assaulted and threatened during the incident, described by police as particularly violent.
The burglary took place on Sunday, December 19, at around 8.15pm, as the victim returned home.
He was confronted by two male intruders, who assaulted him before escaping with electrical goods and personal property. They drove off towards the A4103 Worcester to Hereford Road in a blue Vauxhall Cavalier, but the vehicle collided with a tree a short distance away. The victim followed the burglars in his own car, a silver Volvo estate, calling the police on his mobile phone. However, the men flagged the victim down and took his vehicle, after threatening him with serious violence.
The Volvo estate was found abandoned early the next morning off Hylton Road, St Johns, Worcester, near to a public footpath leading to Hardwicke Close.
The burglars are both described as white, aged 18 to 25 years. The first man is of slim build with a gaunt face, around 5ft 8ins, clean shaven, wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers. The second is described as of stockier build and wearing similar clothing.
Detective Sergeant Roger Bates, of Hereford CID, said: "This is a particularly violent offence and could have ended far more seriously than it did.
"We're keen to identify the two offenders as soon as we can and are appealing to anyone who saw the blue Vauxhall Cavalier, registration number G206 MFD, in the Worcester or Malvern area prior to December 19, to contact us."
Anyone with information should contact DS Roger Bates at Hereford CID on 08457 444888 or cal Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
