FUMING Evesham United boss Dave Busst threatened to carve up his squad ahead of tomorrow's home clash with lowly Bracknell Town (3pm) after an alarming form slump in Southern League Division One West.

The Robins' boss blew his top after Monday's sorry 1-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Sutton Coldfield and has promised to give his players a 'kick up the backside' in order to get their promotion bid back on track.

He has threatened to release men and draft in a host of fresh faces to bring a stop to his side's rotten form.

United have picked up five points from six games and Busst carpeted his side after the Sutton loss, insisting the run is not good enough.

Busst said: "Other than for the last 20 minutes of the game, the level of performance at Sutton was unacceptable. We should not have lost that game but we just weren't up for it. They made us look mediocre and our front two were non-existent all game.

"We have to change things around because one win and two draws from the last six games is just not good enough. We've had a bad run and are still up there.

"Other teams have dropped points but if we continue the way we are, we will quickly fall out of the promotion race.

"The work-rate has gone in some of the players and a few have started to become complacent. Whether they are like that because they reckon they are guaranteed a place every week, I don't know.

"They will have a shock though. I don't normally threaten the players with bringing new players in but that's something I will have to do.

"They saw that when I brought in Richard Ball and maybe if I bring one or two new players in and release a couple, that will be the kick up the backside that they need. It's an old saying but there are no friends in football.

"We need players who will run round, compete, play at the right tempo and play for their shirts."

Striker Ball, ineligible to play against Sutton, goes straight back into the side along with defender Simon Fitter and captain Lee Knight who returns after a bout of 'flu.
