I HOLD the opposite view to P Drysdale (You Say, Saturday, December 18).
We are told the floods will be higher and more often in the near future and it would be foolish not to be prepared for the worst.
I have written many times that what is really needed is first a three laned bridge from Tybridge Street to the Butts.
The road system already exists; all it needs is building up of floods way.
A bridge in this position would enable the town to work as normal in lines of flood.
A new pedestrian crossing in New Road would enable people on foot not having to walk down to the bridge to safely cross the road.
