A BODY was discovered at the foot of a Worcester car park this morning after a 40ft death plunge.
The man, who has not been identified, fell from the top storey of the CrownGate shopping centre car park at about 7.40am.
Police said they were treating the death as unexplained and appealed
for witnesses to the incident to come forwards.
They are studying CCTV footage and making enquiries about a purple Nissan Micra at the scene.
"I just heard a thud - it was a hell of a bang," said High Street workman Kevin Dimmick, who was in a mobile office on the Newport Street car park
Buses were redirected away from the body and the Dolday pedestrian entrance to the bus station was closed, along with the top level of the car park.
People walking past the scene were shocked by the police activity.
"I was told someone had jumped by the people waiting in the bus station," said factory worker David Hand, of South Quay, Worcester. "That's all they are talking about now."
Insp Keith Williams said he was not aware of any suicide note.
"We are treating this as an unexplained death and investigating the circumstances surrounding it," he added.
Police asked anyone with any information to call them on 08457 444888 quoting 44S/100105.
