A SPATE of garage burglaries in Warndon Villages has prompted the police to issue a call to homeowners to ensure theirs are securely locked.

Five garages were broken into, with golf clubs, computer games and a bicycle among the property stolen.

"While recognising that many householders use their garages as additional storage, we cannot over-stress the need to make sure that valuable items of property are made secure," said a Worcester Police spokesman.

"We would encourage the community to ensure that garages are securely locked with robust locks.

"Any valuable items kept in garages should be stored as securely as possible in order to deter opportunist thieves and to make life as difficult as possible for them."

n In the first break-in, a set of Callaway golf clubs, valued at £1,000, was stolen from a garage (police incident number 89S/040105).

n A set of Wilson golf clubs was taken from another garage nearby (incident number 321S/040105).

n Two bikes, both later recovered, were stolen, together with a red Snap-on tool box, a set of Snap-on rachet spanners and other assorted tools in a further break-in at a neighbouring garage (incident number 95S/040105).

n A PlayStation console and games, valued at £150, and a child's black mountain bike, worth £80, were taken when another garage in Warndon Villages was broken into (incident number 110S/040105).
