I COULD not disagree with Tim Palmer more ("School saga waste of money", Letters, Friday, December 31).
He seems to assume that Tesco should have been allowed to trample all over St John's and its inhabitants, unopposed.
The fact is that the council did make a brave decision.
It kept to its environmental principles and rejected the expedient easy solution. Mr Palmer insults the intellect of those who opposed Tesco's plans with your "gift horse and mouth" saying, which is totally inappropriate.
Much more relevant, may I suggest, is a quotation from the Roman poet and philosopher Virgil - "Timeo danaos dona ferentes"... beware of Greeks bearing gifts.
