RECENT reports of the collective amnesia among many drivers over the Highway Code are shocking.
Sadly, some drivers happily break the law if they can get away with it, especially with the general Home Office policy of non-enforcement of minor offences.
There is also a gross dereliction of a duty of care to pedestrians.
Recently a man and I were nearly run over by a female driving out of Belmont Street into Astwood Road while "yakking" on her mobile with one hand.
Her nearside wheels mounted the pavement and we had to jump to avoid being hit.
Might I remind drivers that they should give signals to help and warn other road users, including pedestrians.
And they should watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which they are turning.
If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way.

Worcester.
