THE people of Droitwich should be given a flavour of the plans for the town's new health centre, according to town councillors.
Negotiations are still taking place over the sale of the former magistrates' court building, which would form part of the ambitious plans to create a new health, council and police centre.
The plans are still under wraps by South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust but councillors are to ask them to give the public a hint of what's to come.
"When are the people going to know about these plans?" said town and county councillor Peter Pinfield.
"We know that negotiations are still taking place but it would be nice to have a flavour of what the plans are. Is it going to be one storey? Two storeys?
"And what services are the public to get from it?"
Debate
The idea for the development was first put forward 18 months ago.
"The meeting last month was the first time the county council had had chance to debate this issue, so I think it's about time the public was given some idea of what to expect," Coun Pinfield added.
Worcestershire County Council is expected to complete it's negotiations with the primary care trust in the next four or five weeks.
Droitwich Civic Society has already put forward proposals for the development of the site, which would include a health centre on the first floor, shops on the ground floor, a new police station and a council one stop shop.
Councillors are planning to write to the primary care trust in the next few days asking for some information on the plans.
