WORCESTER badminton ace Simon Archer has his sights on a stunning 2005 after winning back-to-back European events with partner Anthony Clark.
Archer and Clark got the year off to a perfect start by landing the men's doubles title at the 40th Portuguese International Championships in Caldas da Rainha.
The deadly duo took the honours with a 17-15, 15-4 triumph over Japanese pairing Toru Matsumoto and Keishi Kawaguchi.
Their win came just one month after securing the Bitsburgen Open International title at the Joachim-Deckarm-Halle venue in Saarbruken, Germany.
Former Olympic medallist Archer, 31, teamed up with Nottinghamshire-based Clark in October after ending his association with former partner Robert Blair, who now pairs up with Nathan Robertson.
The new-look partnership struggled to make inroads during World Grand Prix circuit tournaments in Singapore and China, but the twosome have now found their feet in stunning fashion.
They continue striving for ranking points in the countdown to August's World Championships in Anaheim, California, with two more events this month, starting with the Swedish International Open followed by the Noonnoppi Korea Open in Incheon City.
Archer said: "It was great to get another title under our belt. It's good to play these events and we are starting to learn a lot more about each other.
"It is going to be a busy year for us. We are cramming a lot of tournaments in before the end of May for ranking points."
