NEW Aggborough hero Blair Sturrock has reassured Kidderminster Harriers fans: "Every player thinks we will get out of trouble".

Sturrock, with three goals in just five Harriers games, swapped a Coca-Cola Championship cruise with Plymouth Argyle for his first relegation battle in League Two.

But the 23-year-old striker insisted the predicament has inspired a strong camaraderie between the players which was evident in Saturday's 2-1 win over Lincoln City. The signings made by boss Stuart Watkiss, such as Simon Weaver and Johnny Mullins in defence, have installed a new-found confidence in the squad, according to Sturrock.

He said: "The boys think we will get out of this and fight our way up the table.

"There's players that have come in, four or five of them, with a bit of confidence. They have all tried to make it louder in the changing room and take that out onto the pitch.

"It's happening, maybe not all the time over the last few weeks but then you're not going to win every game when you're down there. It's just a battle.

"This is my first taste of life near the bottom of the table. But the boys are still close and nobody's down in the dumps."

Meanwhile, Watkiss has made a final offer to Doncaster Rovers winger John McGrath after revealing his interest in the 24-year-old ex-Aston Villa man last week.

Left-sided McGrath, who made two Premiership substitute appearances for Villa in 2001, is believed to be negotiating a settlement on his contract with League One outfit Doncaster.

The Limerick-born midfielder, with loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Dagenham and Redbridge also under his belt, has played second fiddle to highly rated former Hereford wide man Michael McIndoe.

But Watkiss also has other midfield targets in mind and wants to improve his squad before Saturday's trip to Macclesfield.
