HEREFORD United return to Burton Albion and the scene of Saturday's horror show tonight hoping to progress in the third round of the GLS Cup (7.45).

Bulls manager Graham Turner takes his side to bogey ground Eton Park intent on wiping clean the memory of their crushing 3-0 Nationwide Conference defeat.

The Brewers sent United tumbling to their third defeat in four games with a first-half Kris Taylor strike, followed by penalties from Craig Dudley and Jon Shaw.

It was the Bulls' third straight defeat at Burton since Nigel Clough's men gained promotion in 2001/02.

Turner was furious after the embarrassing loss and claimed his players did not work hard enough to take anything from the game.

He said: "Early season we looked organised and worked hard as a unit, we've done none of that over the last three or four matches, but it's something we have got to put right in the club.

"The players got us to third in the table and the same players don't suddenly become bad players. But seven or eight of them needed a kick up the backside to get started."

Turner is expected to give several fringe players a chance to prove themselves tonight in the previously named National Conference Cup.

Striker Danny Carey-Bertram is poised to make only his second start of the season, his first coming in the 4-0 New Year's Day drubbing at Exeter.

Out-of-favour defender Tom Smith is also likely to get the nod, along with Andy Tretton if he recovers from a back strain.

Burton boss Nigel Clough is treating the tie as an opportunity to put several players in the shop window, with midfielder Laurie Wilson, striker Robbie Talbot and Glenn Kirkwood set to start.
