STOURPORT Swifts chairman Chris Reynolds believes a victory at Cinderford Town tonight could inspire a late surge for a play-off spot in Southern League Division One West (7.45).
The Walshes Meadow club failed to capitalise on their derby win over Bromsgrove Rovers after losing 2-1 at home to Ashford on Saturday.
Ashford took advantage of a brace of errors by Swifts 'keeper Aaron O'Malley to take a two-goal lead before Andy Checketts rifled in a 25-yarder for Dave Titterton's men.
Swifts are again 10 points adrift of a play-off place and another set-back at The Causeway tonight could see their hopes of a top-six finish fade.
But Reynolds is convinced Swifts will get the better of their Gloucestershire guests and move back into the top half of the table.
He said: "The way things have gone this season, if you win three or four games on the trot, you can move up the table really quickly.
"Hopefully, that will happen for us but we have to get a good result at Cinderford.
"Saturday was disappointing because we did not play well. In all fairness, we are well capable of beating Ashford on most days but our game was not up to scratch.
"It was bad for Aaron because he dropped two crucial catches that cost us.
"But he's a good goalkeeper and he will come back strongly, I'm sure."
Swifts are still without injured captain Jay Powell (knee) for a fortnight, Danny Mason (virus), Ronnie Sayer (hamstring) and John Shirley (knee ligament).
