LAST month, the Evening News ran an article saying that Worcester was a "Godless place".
This was not my impression over Christmas.
On Thursday, December 23, I took my parents to a carol service at Worcester Cathedral. Hoping for a good seat we arrived more than half an hour early.
The Cathedral was already packed and we had to sit at the back.
On Christmas Eve my husband and I attended Midnight Mass and as we wanted a "seat with a view", we arrived three-quarters-of-an-hour early.
No such luck, we only managed to get a seat at the side of the nave. As far as I could see, by the beginning of the service, every seat was taken.
My parents went to the communion service on Christmas day and came home to say that once again the Cathedral was full.
I'm sure this was repeated in churches throughout, so we can rest assured that for Christmas 2004 Worcester was certainly not a Godless place!
MARY DHONAU,
Worcester.
