WHIST players who put their cards on the table and made a concerted effort to raise money for charity have generated more than £2,000 for good causes.
The group, from Whittington, presented a cheque for £1,100 to Acorn's Children's Hospice last Friday.
The charity is to open a new hospice in Bath Road, near Worcester city centre, in March. This will provide specialist care and support for more than 250 life-limited children from Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
And it isn't the first time the whist players have donated money. Last year, they raised £1,000 for the County Air Ambulance.
"There are about 50 of us in the group in total and we are very keen to raise money for good causes," said member Jean Jenkins.
"There are around 50 players at the moment and we meet every Friday at Whittington Village Hall at 7.30pm.
"We are always looking for additional support, which would not only mean us meeting more people, but also increasing our contributions to charities."
